We all know what we think is the best bits to add to the car, (or at least that's what I hear) but occasionally I get requests for a JUST DO IT FOR ME "turn-key" solution, ie take a basically stock NSX and without destroying it's innate good nature fix all the "flaws" from the original design. The basic car is a "B+" in every area that it is not an "A" in already IMO so what does it need?
My short list:
So what to do? Obviously you can go insane on the $ at any level, but these are "bang for the buck" packages. If you have more flash cash, we can certainly spend it for you.
The Brake Upgrade we have selected is the Racing Brake Plus 1 setup with 2 piece rotors as it fits under 16" OEM rims and 99% of the aftermarket rims currently in use while providing a large increase in heat processing capability over the stock setup. If you have a 1991-1996 you also get a nice increase in the rotor diameter for increased brake "torque". Dali SS lines, Project MU NS street performance pads and Ate high temp brake fluid round out this package.
While wheel appearance is often the deciding factor for most people with little thought given to the consequences - if the car can't get out of its own way after you put that set of diamond encrusted 19/20's on there then unless you are ICE-T what can you say but "oops"? This page is all about performance at the best price. With that in mind we have selected the Enkei RPF1 in 16 X 7.0" and 17 X 8.5". Weighing in at only 13.7lbs front and 16.0lbs for the rear they will save you several lbs EACH over the stock rims and up to 10lbs EACH over some other so called "performance" rims. They also allow the older cars to run the OEM 16/17 if you like them or other performance tires like the Falken 615s we prefer.
Since this is primarily a street car package that can also play at the track if called upon to, a warranty and long life is more important than the ultimate in performance. With that in mind, we have selected the Weekend Warrior: Eibach 6pack w/Bavarian pretzels package. In case you have already had too many beers to decipher that, you get a set of Eibach progressive rate lowering springs that combine a good look with a good ride on the commute and tight cornering when called upon, plus a set of Bilstein shocks, and a set of Dali Street Swaybars - YIKES !!! I ought to have all of that on my car.
The OEM exhaust manifold designing department must have been where they ran out of $ - what a restrictive boat anchor the early cars came with! You 1997+ guys are luckier in that regard, still, even the newer cars can get a few more ponies out of a set of tuned headers and loose some weight in the process. Couple a set of nice street legal headers from Comptech or DC Sports with a civilized yet sporty exhaust like the DC Sports or Dali and what have you got? + 25 HP and a sound that you will like and the SO can live with.
The OEM intake has the right idea, (cold air) but it kills all the great sounds inside the motor. We modify your OEM airbox with the addition of a free flowing APEXi filter in our Stealth INtake mod and channel more air in the right direction with a Dali FAIS. Just to make sure it is all working like it is supposed to we clean the injectors.
Well there you are. You've lost weight and gained HP at the same time. The car will still have the character that made you buy it in the first place but you will be able to feel the difference every time you drive it. At least until you get used to it anyway.... but that is what we are here for! Remember that these are just our suggestions - we can do whatever you want.
